Echo Lake
Echo Lake is located northeast of the village of Bigfork, MT at the foot of the Swan Mountain Range at an elevation of around 2,998 feet.  It is just about a ten minute drive away from the village of Bigfork on paved roads with a State of Montana public boat launch on the north side.  Echo Lake is about 695 acres in surface area and is considered the warmest lake for swimming in the Flathead Valley. The wandering, lightly wooded shoreline boasts of upscale homes and rustic cabins and would be considered relatively developed real estate. There is generally only a handful of homes or property for sale at any one time and many times none at all. The typical lake property on Echo is about 100 feet wide.  Echo Lake is dotted with small private islands and bays which make for interesting kayaking and canoeing along with residents and visitors enjoying skiing and jet skiing.  According to the Montana Dept. of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, fishing opportunities on Echo Lake include Brook Tour, Kokanee, Lake Whitefish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout and Yellow Perch.  The Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks department has additional information on their website about Echo Lake.  See additional photos of Echo Lake to truly appreciate its unique beauty.
Bigfork
Platted in 1901, Bigfork, MT is a charming village set on the northeast shoreline of Flathead Lake at the mouth of the Swan River and home to fine art galleries, gourmet restaurants of varied cuisine, unique shops, excellent accommodations and most services in a quaint western setting. The neighborhoods of Ferndale, Woods Bay and Swan Lake are an extension of the village.  Highway 35, also known as the Eastshore Route, offers a scenic drive south to Polson, MT overlooking beautiful Flathead Lake vistas through cherry orchards, and by lakefront homes both petite and grand.  South from Bigfork take the Swan Hwy (Hwy 83) and travel past Swan River, by Swan Lake into scenic Swan Valley south to Condon and Seeley Lake.

Bigfork is home to the Eagle Bend Golf Course, which has been rated by many as one of the most challenging and beautiful golf courses in the nation. The Bigfork Summer Playhouse has been celebrated as one of the northwest's finest repertory theaters for 50 years and now hosts the Bigfork Playhouse Children's Theater.  Wayfarer’s State Park on the edge of Bigfork and on the shores of Flathead Lake has overnight camping and is also a great day spot with picnic tables, scenic rocky cliffs and a boat launch into Flathead Lake.  The west entry to Glacier National Park is only a 45 minute scenic drive to the north. The Big Mountain Ski Resort and Blacktail Ski Area are within an hour for beginning to expert downhill skiing and snowboarding.  Just northeast of Bigfork near the entry to Jewel Basin is the  Nordic Center with cross country trails.  New in town is Base Camp Dog Sledding, a truly unique opportunity to experience dog sledding.

Bigfork Montana was voted as "One of the 50 Great Towns of the West" and designated as "One of the 100 Best Small Art Towns of the Nation."   Local newspapers like the Bigfork Eagle and the Lakeshore Country Journal and a very strong Bigfork Chamber of Commerce will keep you up-to-date on local happenings.  Real estate values have been historically strong in Bigfork and this part of the Flathead Valley.
